Elements of the labeling of Genetically Modified Foods in Europe:

- A list of the characteristics or properties modified, together with the method by which that characteristics or property was obtained if the product is no longer equivalent to existing products (art, 8 para. 1 lit. a subpara. 3 NFR)
- A list of any characteristic or food property such as composition, nutritional value or nutritional effects, or intended use of the food or food ingredient (art. 8 para. 1 lit. a subpara. 1 NFR).
- The name of any material which is not present in an existing equivalent food-stuff and which may have implications for the health of certain sections of the population (for example person suffering from an allergy) (art. 8 para. 1 lit. b NFR)
- The name of any material which is not present in an existing equivalent foodstuff and which gives rise to ethical concerns: (art. 8 para, 1 lit.c NFR)
- A list if any organism genetically modified by techniques of genetically modification, the nonexhaustive list of which is laid down in Annex 1A, Part 1 of Directive 90/220/EEC (art. Para. 1 lit. d NFR).
